Send Flowers to Barrancabermeja, Colombia

Barrancabermeja is a port city on the Río Magdalena in Santander, the centre of Colombia's oil industry and home to the country's largest refinery. It is a hot, hard-working city a few hours from Bucaramanga, with the San Silvestre wetland nearby. Barranqueños living abroad send flowers home for a mother's birthday, a wedding anniversary or a family loss.

The Día de la Madre on the second Sunday of May is the busiest flower date in Barrancabermeja, as across Colombia. The Fiestas del Petróleo and the Día del Padre in June are other moments when families gather and bouquets are given. For a funeral, friends send wreaths to the velación and accompany the family during the novena.

Order before midnight Colombian time and delivery takes place the next day in Barrancabermeja. Include the recipient's phone number: the florist calls ahead and rearranges if nobody is home. Roses, lilies, mixed bouquets and plants are generally available; in the river heat the florist may suggest a close equivalent if a particular flower is not stocked.
