Send Flowers to Bogotá, Colombia

Bogotá, Colombia's high-altitude capital at 2,600 metres, is a city of eight million. Colombians living in Spain, the United States and beyond send flowers to parents, partners and friends in Chapinero, Usaquén, Teusaquillo and Suba, and florists cover the rest of the city as well as Chía and Cajicá to the north.

Mother's Day is the second Sunday of May and is the largest flower-giving day in Colombia, one of the world's biggest flower exporters. Día del Amor y la Amistad on the third Saturday of September is Colombia's Valentine's equivalent, and 8 March, Women's Day, is widely celebrated with roses. Sympathy arrangements are sent to the funeral home or velación and to the family home; white flowers are customary. Get-well bouquets commonly go to Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, Hospital Universitario San Ignacio, Clínica del Country and Fundación Cardioinfantil.

Bogotá is on Colombian time, six or seven hours behind central Europe and the same as US Central or Eastern time. Order before midnight Bogotá time and the bouquet is delivered the next day. Roses, lilies, mixed bouquets and plants are plentiful and fresh. We need the recipient's phone number: most buildings have a portero who can receive the flowers, and if not, the florist calls to arrange a new time.
